Spring Break

Happy Easter! I have already had two cups of coffee and a hot cross bun on this sunny and very windy Sunday morning. Wonderful to actually see the sun! I love windy walks and I’m looking forward to walking into the village later this morning with my husband and Tucker for an outdoor visit with my mother. Restrictions have lifted here for assisted living facilities but the seniors’ independent housing complex where my mother lives is still being very cautious as our COVID numbers are at record highs these days.

This is just a short message to let you know that I am taking a break for a few weeks from blogging, workshops, and posting on social media. Spring is calling and I am going to take some time for a staycation. My life has been fairly quiet this past year and I have had lots of free time and yet it has not felt like a break. We were supposed to head off in May for a family vacation to celebrate our 35th anniversary but we made the decision this week to cancel our booking. In all likelihood, restrictions will still be in place next month and we did not want to lose our deposit. So I’m feeling a little sad and lost. I’m not sure what the future holds for me right now - but I do have some control over the next few weeks!

I want to enjoy a few weeks without feeling like I have to do anything, a few weeks without deadlines and commitments. But I do have a few projects lined up! I plan to dig in my garden. We are going to build a new deck in the backyard. I want to bike the dykes around my neighbourhood. I’m hoping for some warm days so I can head to a quiet stretch of beach to read and soak up the sun. There are some new recipes I want to try. Oh, and yes, I still plan to do some writing. There are a few ideas mulling around in my head that I want to get down on paper. I don’t know where those words will eventually end up – a blog post, an article – or maybe these are the first inspirations for a book! That elusive book is still on my bucket list and I feel like I’m edging closer to what I want to write about.

I’ll still be checking emails so feel free to connect – I do love hearing from you! And I’ll be back in a bit to continue paddling north with you.

Take care. Be safe.
